New Honda Jazz facelift leaked ahead of global launch

After several spotting of prototypes, the new of 2017 Honda Jazz facelift has been leaked ahead of launch. Like the recently updated City, new Jazz would receive mild yet noticeable cosmetic enhancements and a few improvements.

The leaked images clearly reveal that, save for the front and rear fascias, the hatchback’s exterior design continues without any changes. Like the new City, Jazz facelift will receive bigger and bolder front grille with more chrome in addition to reprofiled front and rear bumpers.

Honda Jazz already has a very efficiently packaged interior and hence we don’t expect any significant changes. The automaker could introduce additional features to enhance the appeal.

We expect the existing powertrain lineup to be retained. The India-spec model is available with a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that dishes out 90 PS and 110 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that is good for 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque. The former is available with a 5-speed MT or a CVT while the latter comes mated to a 6-speed MT. Various reports speculate that Honda is working on a downsized 1.0-litre turbocharged i-VTEC petrol engine for the Jazz.

Honda Jazz’s monthly sales performance in India has been steady but is nowhere near the segment leaders Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Baleno. The mid-life refresh would provide the hatchback a shot in the arm but it’s unlikely to put it close enough to threaten the best sellers.
